Unveiling the first 90 days for a new donor

Our exclusive new Australian research shows that whilst charities invest heavily in acquisition, the same cannot be said for stewarding new donors.

We analysed the donor journeys delivered by 50 Australian charities to new donors over the first 90 days.

In some cases, the results will shock you. In others you’ll understand just how mediocre we are in general at stewarding those who provide the very lifeblood on which we need to carry out our important work.
But … there is hope.

I’ll share the key findings of this unique project. I’ll discuss how we are performing poorly but also share examples of great donor engagement and how organisations can make significant improvements.

Some of the key areas that are discussed include:
• Initial donor contact and impressions
• Initial thanks and recognition received
• Channels employed
• Frequency and timing of communications
• Effectiveness of impact communications and donor appreciation
• Timings and channels used to solicit second gifts
• How online and offline differed (or didn’t)
